paradise. what comes into your mind when you hear the word, “paradise”?

it may be a state of mind, a specific place, maybe even a feeling.

i found my paradise in a person.

paradise. I hope you find your paradise because I found mine.

she is a walking joke book, a walking ray of sunshine, full of silly thoughts and sassy answers and radiating with positivity. she walks like she owns the pavement she graces by and she is extremely clumsy, but she is extremely endearing. she laughs and talks at herself when no one does, and I make sure to catch and sweep her off her feet subtly, even if it’s prohibited.

when she cries, it’s like she carries the weight of the world and her tears are the rain when a sudden storm passes by. she hides when she cries because she doesn’t want to be seen in her most vulnerable state. she whimpers quietly and wipes her eyes while sitting on the floor and hiding her beautiful face behind the seat. when somebody approaches her, she dismisses them and makes up an alibi. it hurts to see her cry, and I wish to take all her sorrows and anxiety and shoulder them to see her happy. because I’m happy when she’s happy.

she likes to read. oh, my how she does. sometimes she crouches and hides and maybe she thinks no one can see her but I can. she holds her phone (or book) close to her and starts to read. she would usually have earphones in and she’s in another world. her facial expressions when she is reading are endearing and amusing and she doesn’t notice but I would admire her while reading. sometimes I catch her with tears in her eyes just because the protagonist is broken up by their significant other. I would always laugh at her and she would scowl at me and I would laugh harder.

she likes to joke around, but when it comes to consequential things, she is damn serious. she likes to tease her friends but when someone talks shit about them, things are about to go down, literally. she is really funny and sensitive at times but I’ll tell you, she’s stronger than she seems and she fights for what’s right and just all the time. she defends her friends whenever necessary and gives them great advice whenever they need her. she’s a genuine shoulder-to-cry-on and an empathetic adviser and I promise you, she’s there whether you need her or not.

when you ask her a question in class, she doesn’t usually answer, opting to stay quiet and listen to her peers answer it. but she will surprise you when she suddenly raises her hand and intellectual words start coming out of her mouth, more different and better than any answer anyone can come up with. she answers the question with a piece of her heart, and to my eyes, she is more admirable. she is smart, driven, and passionate. she is beautiful in her own unique way and she’s even more when she thinks she’s not.

her laugh is a mix of rainbows and sunshine and happiness on a cloudy, rainy, lonely day. when I feel sad and alone and anxious on a day, she comes along with her happy, positive attitude and she cheers me up. her smile ignites the unlit candle in me and I’m more than happy to melt. she brightens up my dark, void day and although it is as cheesy as it sounds, she completes me. I do not love her, but she sure has a special place in my heart I know will last a lifetime.

what does paradise even feel like? you can have your own definition, it’s valid. My definition is the fierce, clumsy woman that stole my heart since the first time she spoke to me. she’s my paradise.
